Tropical Storm Trami / Kristine Response in the Philippines

October 28, 2024 – Following the impact caused by Tropical Storm Trami (named Kristine in the Philippines), Planet Water Foundation has mobilized a Disaster Response team into the affected region of Bicol to deploy AquaBlock emergency water filtration systems in impacted communities.

Each AquaBlock is designed to be rapidly deployable and employs a four stage filtration process to take existing, non-potable water sources such as wells, ponds, streams, or rivers and produce safe drinking water at a capacity of 700 liters per hour. Our first AquaBlock emergency water filtration system was deployed in Camaligan Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) and is now producing safe drinking water to support up to 6,000 people. An Additional AquaBlock emergency water filtration system was deployed in Barangay San Jose East, Canaman, one of the areas in Camarines Sur most heavily impacted by the storm, where many people’s homes were submerged in flood waters.
